Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

for Lexus Electric Vehicles (EVs)

An Electric Vehicle (EV) is a type of vehicle that is powered by one or more electric motors, using electrical energy stored in rechargeable batteries. Lexus EVs are designed to offer a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.

Lexus offers three types of electrified vehicles: hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric (referred to as Battery Electric, Battery EVs, BEVs, or simply EVs).

HYBRID

Seamlessly combines an electric motor and a gasoline engine to offer impressive efficiency and instantaneous torque off the line, all without having to plugin.
Available models: UXh, NXh, RXh, TX 500h, ESh, LSh, LCh

PLUG-IN HYBRID

Data shows 85% of one-way vehicle trips are 15 miles or less. A Lexus PHEV combines the benefits of all-electric driving during shorter trips like these with the peace of mind of a gas-powered engine during longertrips.
Available models: NXh+, RXh+

ALL ELECTRIC

Never fill up again. Powered by long-range battery packs, these fully electric vehicles deliver breathtaking acceleration, exhilarating all-wheel drive agility, and can be charged with a standard household GFCI outlet* or installed higher-speed (Level 2) charger.
Available models: RZ

The driving range of an all-electric vehicle will vary depending on how/where you drive, charging habits, accessory use, outside temperature and other factors. Battery capacity also decreases with time and use, which will reduce range.
In optimal conditions, the Lexus RZ can be charged to 80% in as fast as 1 hour with a Level 3 charger, fully charged in 11 hours with a Level 2 charger, or fully charged in 50 hours using a Level 1 charger.

There are three main levels of charging. Each level has its own advantages and disadvantages so you’ll want to look into them to find out which charging level is right for your lifestyle.

Level 1

Level 1 chargers often use a normal 120V household grounded outlet. Level 1 charging isn’t the quickest way to charge your vehicle but its ease of use and versatility make it a popular choice for many EV owners. If you plan on using a Level 1 charger to charge your electric vehicle, expect an electric car charging time of around 24 hours or more to fully charge your EV.

Level 2

Level 2 chargers usually utilize a 240V charging method and will typically need to be installed by a professional if you want one in your own Cerritos home. Level 2 chargers are much faster than Level 1 chargers—fast enough to be used in some public charging stations. Oftentimes, Level 2 chargers can charge EVs up to an 80% charge in half an hour to 40 minutes.

DC Fast Charger

DC fast chargers are undoubtedly the quickest way to charge your electric vehicle. However, DC fast chargers are typically only available at public charging stations because of the immense amount of power that they use to quickly charge your EV. Some DC fast chargers can charge specific EV models in an hour or less.

You can plug in at home, at work, or at most public charging stations across the country. The ChargePoint CPH50 Level 2 AC Home Charger is available from your Lexus Dealer or online from ChargePoint.
Incentives for electric vehicles, such as tax credits or rebates, can vary by region and are subject to change. It’s recommended to check with local authorities and consult with the dealership for the most up-to-date information on incentives available in your area.

Yes, Lexus dealerships are equipped to provide maintenance services for their electric vehicles. However, the nature of maintenance for EVs differs from traditional vehicles, with a focus on the electric drivetrain and battery system. It’s advisable to follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule outlined in the vehicle’s manual.
